[The Consolidation of Peace-Japanfs 10 years with UN PKO-]
(Commissioned by the Cabinet Office, Government of Japan)
In June 1992, Japan enacted the Law Concerning Cooperation for United Nations Peacekeeping Operations and Other Operations in order to enable Japan to play a more active role for international peace. In the first 10 years, Japan was involved in international peace cooperation in a wide range of fields, including the building of peace and providing reconstruction assistance following ethnic and civil wars in various parts of the world, as well as providing humanitarian aid for refugees. 6,600 people, both Self-Defense Force and civilian personnel, were dispatched around the world for such operations.
This program is a recap of Japan's 10 years of active international peace cooperation. It includes interviews with people involved in past operations as well as specialists from the United States and Japan. Topics and interviews were changed between the U.S. and Asia-Pacific versions to better reflect the interests of targeted viewers.

[The Consolidation of Peace -Japan's Contribution in Afghanistan-]
(Commissioned by the Cabinet Office, Government of Japan)
With the UN as its center, international society is currently involved in efforts to bring about peace and reconstruction to Afghanistan. Japan, too, believes that achieving stability in Afghanistan will help to bring about global peace and stability, and, furthermore, prevent and eradicate terrorism. After the 9-11 terrorist attacks on the U.S. in 2001, Japan swiftly began providing logistical support, such as the supply of fuel to U.S. vessels, on the basis of Japan's Anti-Terrorism Special Measures Law. Furthermore, along with the US, it was a co-host of the International Conference on Reconstruction Assistance to Afghanistan (ICRAA) held in Tokyo. Japan became proactively involved in a wide range of assistance for Afghanistan's reconstruction. This program takes a look at such Japanese assistance to Afghanistan and includes interviews with US and Japanese specialists.
